The ATD initiative has identified the following policy areas as critical to improving student success:
- data driven accountability system
- aligned expectations, standards, assessments and transition requirements across all educational systems
- incentives for improving services to academically under-prepared students
- financial aid and incentives
Success rests on the colleges' commitment to support and advocate these goals to policymakers and the public.
